The idea of health insurance coverage for everyone is a noble idea that only the truly miserly would reject. The Affordable Care Act (the ACA, or Obamacare) is a great idea that doesn’t work well, in practice, with a multiple payer system like we have in the United States. It’s unfair to pin the success or failure of Obama’s presidency to that of only the ACA. Instead, I think his pragmatic, measured approach throughout his presidency was his greatest success, and exactly what this country needed. With the benefit of hindsight, I think many of his current detractors will look back quite favorably on his presidency.
